Whirlow Hall Farm
Reception children visited Whirlow Hall Farm last week as part of their ‘Growth’ topic. The children saw lots of animals and even got to stroke some of them. They also enjoyed making fairy houses in the woods.
Sculpture Park
Year 1 enjoyed their visit to The Sculpture Park this week. They learnt all about the sculptures and had the chance to make their own. Thankfully it didn’t rain too much and everyone had a great time!
Music Week
We have been enjoing a fantastic Music Week this year. Many thanks to all the children, parents and visitors involved. During the week we have been
treated to…
Ukulele playing from Mike Harrison, vocal techniques from Ben Lidigt at Music Box, songs from the Abbeydale Singers, Violin and Accordion playing from Catharine Pugh, Guitar by Martin Simpson, The Junior School Choir, a performance by two Reception parents as the band ‘Supersister’, Trumpet, Saxophone & Clarinet played by Bronte Ellin… And of course our own talented children playing their instruments too!
Face Britain
All children recently completed a self portrait which was submitted into the national Face Britain project. The portraits will be used to make a montage of the Queen which will be projected onto screens in City centres across the country as part of the Jubilee and Olympic celebrations.
Here is a link to the Face Britain site where you can view your child’s portrait. A letter with instructions on how to log-in to the site will be given out on Friday.

HRH Queen Elizabeth II
As part of our Sixtieth Anniversary celebrations our WOW Writers wrote to the Queen to invite her to the events taking place at our school at the end of May. The children were thrilled to recieve a response on behalf of Her Majesty – see the documents below. We are honoured to share our 60th Anniversary with Her Majesty and are looking forward to celebrating at the end of May.
