Aims and Objectives

  1. The school seeks to enable all pupils to realise their full potential through:
  2. The development of the child’s critical faculty enabling the child to think for him/herself, to make decisions and have confidence in them and to make informed choices
  3. The development of a personal morality
  4. The acquisition, from experience of a range of curriculum disciplines, of the understanding, knowledge and skills relevant to adult life and employment in a fast changing world
  5. The development of the whole child with a particular awareness of the child’s social and emotional development as well as academic achievement
  6. The development of confidence, and the perseverance to tackle a difficult task and to complete it; understanding the reasons for completing it; understanding the reasons for completing ‘unpopular’ tasks and to have the self motivation needed to do this, leading to the development of self discipline
  7. The development of a positive attitude, a positive way of thinking, and a sense of humour
  8. Praise for achievement and success in the pursuit of excellence
  9. The development in the child of respect and tolerance for others regardless of age, race, religion, sex or ability; to give the child the belief that everyone is of equal importance and that everyone should have equal opportunities
  10. An appreciation of human achievements and aspirations through the practice and study of the sciences, arts and technologies
  11. The development of well-balanced individuals who have self-esteem, confidence and enjoyment in their learning
  12. The experience of working co-operatively in groups of different sizes and kinds, for a variety of purposes, and through this an understanding of the world and the interdependence of individuals, groups and nations, and the effect that their actions can have on others
  13. The development of an enquiring and open mind enabling the child to be flexible in his/her thinking, and to experience the excitement of discovery
